Description
Beginning as a humble basement endeavor between friends Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack, Wye Oak has evolved into a significant force in the music world, with expansive tours across the United States and Europe, and a noteworthy placement on the esteemed Merge Records label. Their album, The Knot, mirrors this growth and burgeoning confidence, yet never strays from the emotional sincerity and intimate nature that have become the band’s signature trademarks.
The Knot presents a collection of songs that undulate, expand, and resonate deeply, consistently striving to forge a personal bond with the listener. As per tradition, Andy Stack’s production techniques layer his multifaceted instrumental arrangements atop Jenn Wasner’s ethereal compositions, however, the musicality is more refined than ever before. Although the previously prominent roars of feedback are toned down, the incorporation of lingering violin and pedal steel enhance the underlying drone of Americana that has always subtly colored Wye Oak’s sonic landscape.
