Squirrel Nut Zippers – Perennial Favorites – Vinyl Record

Description

The neo-swing movement exploded in early 1997 with the Squirrel Nut Zippers’ “Hell,” and their follow-up album, Perennial Favorites, is a testament to their staying power. While they may be part of a fad, the group proves to have substance, channeling the gritty edge of hot jazz that others in the genre neglect. With infectious hooks, panache, and lively energy, the Zippers stand out amongst their peers. While they may not have the technical proficiency of jazz purists, they have their own unique sound and impressive songwriting skills. Must-listens include “The Ghost of Stephen Foster,” a catchy and darkly humorous track that showcases SNZ’s talents. It’s clear that the Squirrel Nut Zippers are far more than a fleeting trend.
