Description
In 2003, a 140-gram vinyl reissue of an LP was released. The album marked Ryan Adams’ departure from his alt-country sound and instead embraced a pop and rock sound from the 1970s. In the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the song “New York, New York” took on new meaning as a song of resilience, rather than a lovelorn ballad. The song became very popular on the airwaves and MTV. Adams pays tribute to his favorite artists from the ’70s, with clear influences from Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Van Morrison, and Elton John. The album was originally intended to be a double album, but the label cut it down and released a bonus 5-song CD to a limited number of fans. This reissue restores the original intention of the artist and makes it a true double album, with 21 songs pressed into 140-gram vinyl. The album was released on Lost Highway Records and received three Grammy nominations.
