Description
Pale Jay’s debut LP, Bewilderment, is a soulful exploration of a family’s gradual disintegration, inspired by the feeling of bewilderment. Through his music, Pale Jay, a trained jazz vocalist and pianist, seeks to find answers to deep questions and redefine his identity. The album exudes a blend of dusty soul, slow disco, and Afrobeat. Raven Bush’s string arrangements add a touch of magic to the beat-heavy productions, making Bewilderment a captivating journey of self-discovery. Collaborating with labelmates Okonski – Steve Okonski, Aaron Frazer, and Michael Montgomery – on ‘By The Lake’, Pale Jay’s music is influenced by songwriters like Labi Siffre, Carole King, and William Onyeabor. Each song on this first full-length album tells a unique story of personal growth and self-understanding
