Description

Masahiro Shinodas Pale Flower is a mesmerizing noir-infused crime drama that explores themes of fate, addiction, and existential despair. After serving time in prison, a hardened gangster returns to the Tokyo underworld, only to find himself disconnected from the changing dynamics of organized crime. As he navigates this unfamiliar landscape, he encounters a mysterious and alluring young woman who shares his love for high-stakes gambling. Their relationship leads them both down a dangerous path, set against the stylish and moody backdrop of post-war Japan. This Criterion Collection edition offers a beautifully restored version of the film, preserving its haunting cinematography and evocative score.
