Description
Bandleader Will Sheff veers left from Away’s more somber fare, creating a vibrant statement of hope. In the Rainbow Rain is brimming with shimmering electric guitar, synths, and backing vocals, a buoyant and playful collection sprinkled with moments of vulnerability. Sheff’s vision of kindness is palpable in the music, joined by his new bandmates Benjamin, Will, Sarah, and Cully. Standouts include the dynamic “Love Somebody,” the uplifting “Pulled Up The Ribbon,” and “Famous Tracheotomies,” a reflection on people who’ve gone through the titular procedure. It’s a record that touches on weighty topics, but Sheff’s goal is for the listener to have a good time–and feel brighter afterwards.
