Description
Mj Lenderman, a songwriter from Asheville, North Carolina, has a distinct sound characterized by warped pedal steels and gritty guitar, capturing the essence of hanging out with friends while delivering a voice akin to a choirboys high-lonesome warble. His songs transition from simple lo-fi home recordings to polished productions with longtime collaborators at Drop of Sun studios in Asheville, yet the essence of a Lenderman track remains authentic.
Manning Fireworks represents a significant chapter in Mj Lenderman’s journey as a keenly insightful singer-songwriter, whose knack for humor often exposes unsettling and disorienting themes. The familiar punchlines and rusted-wire guitar solos that have garnered Lenderman a dedicated indie rock following remain intact, alongside a newfound sincerity that allows listeners to perceive the world through his unique perspective.
