Description

Jean-Luc Godards Masculin Fminin (1966) is a sharp and stylish exploration of youth, love, and politics in 1960s France. Starring Jean-Pierre Laud as Paul, a young man fresh out of military service, the film follows his romantic and ideological journey as he falls for aspiring pop singer Madeleine (Chantal Goya). As their relationship unfolds, Paul becomes increasingly drawn to left-wing activism and the lives of his female flatmates (Marlene Jobert and Catherine Duport), navigating the complexities of modern relationships and political consciousness. With its blend of documentary-style realism and Godards signature cinematic experimentation, Masculin Fminin remains a defining work of the French New Wave. The film also features a memorable cameo by Brigitte Bardot.
