Description
After spending a decade utilizing improvised recording spaces in warehouses, trailers, and lofts, Japanese Breakfast’s fourth album, For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), marks the bands first official studio release. Produced by Grammy Award winner Blake Mills, the album showcases frontwoman and songwriter Michelle Zauner stepping away from the bright extroversion that characterized its predecessor, Jubilee. Instead, she delves into the deeper, darker emotions that often accompany creative inspirationthe rich and complex landscape of melancholy, traditionally associated with poets on the brink of their breakthroughs. The result is an artistic statement of purpose: a mature, intricate, and contemplative work that evokes the romantic thrill of a gothic novel.
