Harriette Pilbeam, the songwriter/bassist behind Hatchie, introduces us to her sophomore album, Giving the World Away – a record of exuberance and sonic opulence produced by Jorge Elbrecht with assistance from Joe Agius, James Barone, and others. Taking the celestial and shimmering pop/shoegaze of her past works, but with greater volume and structure, Giving the World Away also brings in traces of ’90s trip-hop and acid house and is intended to create a vibrance for Hatchie’s live shows. In this record of introspection and self-discovery, Pilbeam searches for self-confidence, dismantling her internalized shame and finding appreciation. Giving the World Away offers an intimate look at Pilbeams bravery, proving that embracing vulnerability and trusting the heart creates powerful and lasting effects.
