Description
Genesis made a bold step forward with Duke, trading fragile delicacy for modernist art rock. This is not an impulsive shift – the band still incorporates prog elements, as heard in the closing suite. To contrast this complexity, Duke also features pop songs like “Misunderstanding,” a light heartache number, and the thunderous “Turn It On Again,” the epitome of a timeless arena rocker. And the rest of the album? Nearly as strong. Duke suggests a bold, unforgettable leap for Genesis and pop music alike.
