Description
Toronto’s Ducks Ltd. (formerly Ducks Unlimited), the bright jangle-pop duo of Tom McGreevy (lead vocal, guitar, bass, keyboards) and Evan Lewis (guitar, bass, drum programming), achieve the impossible. The pair creates songs that draw from specific influences without getting lost in them – as heard on their praised EP, Get Bleak, and further honed on Modern Fiction, their debut album. While nods to ’80s indiepop are present, they never overpower. This is not a nostalgic or unoriginal record. Rather, across 10 upbeat tracks, Ducks Ltd. explore the decline of contemporary society, examining the impact of human disasters on an individual level.
