“Kintsugi” is the eighth studio album by American indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie, released in 2015. The album’s title refers to the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, a metaphor for the band’s own healing process after the departure of founding member Chris Walla. The album features Death Cab’s signature introspective lyrics, set against a backdrop of textured and atmospheric instrumentation. The band’s experimentation with new sounds and production techniques makes “Kintsugi” one of their most sonically adventurous albums, while still retaining the emotional honesty and vulnerability that have made them a beloved fixture in the indie rock scene.
