Description
UK National Album Day 2024 version
Led by Boy George, a beloved icon of London’s lively Blitz Club scene in the early 1980s, Culture Club was at the forefront of the New Romantic movement. Their debut album, ‘Kissing to Be Clever’, helped spearhead the ‘Second British Invasion’ of the US. It was a No.5 hit in their home country and gained popularity worldwide, thanks to the release of their chart-topping single ‘Do You Really Want to Hurt Me’ and the playful horns-assisted pop of ‘I’ll Tumble 4 Ya’. The album featured seven other songs that showcased the group’s infectious blend of new wave, pop, reggae, and soul music. With their genre-defying sound and bold fashion choices, Culture Club continues to inspire up-and-coming artists and their decade-spanning career has earned them numerous awards. Their enduring popularity only continues to grow.
