Description
The Church’s 1988 album “Starfish” is a timeless classic of dreamy, psychedelic rock. The album features the band’s biggest hit, “Under the Milky Way”, a haunting, ethereal track that perfectly encapsulates the album’s moody and atmospheric sound. Other standout tracks include the shimmering “Reptile” and the soaring “North, South, East, and West”. The band’s use of layered, jangly guitars, intricate bass lines, and atmospheric synthesizers create a sound that is both dreamlike and grounded. Lyrically, the album explores themes of spirituality, love, and existential longing. “Starfish” remains a beloved and influential album, and a defining work of the 1980s Australian music scene.
