Few songs remain embedded in the mind as permanently as the beloved 1989 hit “Love Shack” by B-52’s, a highlight of their classic album Cosmic Thing. Its chart success lasted for over a year, with the accompanying Top 5 single “Roam” adding further success. This singular sound comprises off-kilter riffs, tender harmonies, brash vocals, lurching beats, and irresistible choruses. At its core, Cosmic Thing is an album to dance to – Fred Schneider leads the way with comical and semi-rapped musings that capture the band’s unmistakable style of creativity, flamboyance, humor, and unconventionality. Super-producers Don Was and Nile Rodgers ramp up the funkiness, resulting in a record of undeniable allure.
