ANOHNI’s sixth album, ‘My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross’, offers a heartfelt exploration of a wide array of themes, reflecting her personal insights and broad worldview. She thoughtfully touches on loss, inequality, alienation, acceptance, cruelty, ecocide, and the chaos caused by certain religious beliefs. The album also delves into future feminism and the hopeful possibility that we can change our perspectives, spiritual views, societal systems, and our connections with nature. Since her last full album in 2016, ‘HOPELESSNESS’, she shares that the creative journey was both challenging and excitingfull of inspiration, joy, and intimacy. It signifies a fresh start and a heartfelt response to her view of the world. Interestingly, some songs respond to long-standing global and environmental issues that have been part of popular music for over half a century.
