Description
Originally released in 1996, ‘Beats, Rhymes and Life’ marked a bold new chapter in A Tribe Called Quest’s legendary career. With production by Q-Tip and J Dilla, the album blends jazzy, soulful beats with introspective lyrics and sharp social commentary. Showcasing the group’s evolving sound, while staying true to their roots in conscious hip-hop, it features key tracks ‘1nce Again’ (25m+ streams), ‘Stressed Out’ featuring Faith Evans (17m+ streams), and ‘The Hop’ (60m+ streams). This Grammy nominated album was their biggest commercial success to that point, and was critically acclaimed, with Rolling Stone calling it ‘near flawless’.
