Consequence – A Tribe Called Quence 1995-2004 (Orange Color) Vinyl LP

Description

Queens-born MC and longtime A Tribe Called Quest affiliate Consequence finally sees this legendary set reach vinyl for the first time. It’s a raw, head-nodding slice of late 90s and early 2000s NYC hip-hop-boom bap steeped in Native Tongues DNA. Across 16 tracks, he spars and riffs with Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Mobb Deep and Kanye West, with remixes of early solo material reworked by Tribe. ‘Mind Power’, ‘Motivators’, and ‘The Jam’ all appear in tight reimagined forms, drenched in dusty drums and filtered jazz loops. ‘Electric’ finds Kanye in playful, pre-College Dropout mode, while ‘Stick Up’ and ‘Get Money’ serve as heavier nods to the city’s hardcore lineage. Consequence stays nimble throughout, shifting from punchline flurries on ‘Charge!’ to smoky late-night tales on ‘Willy Overnite’. More than an archival drop, this vinyl edition is a sharp reminder of his underrated position within hip-hop’s golden era landscape.
