Description

Chris Markers La Jete/Sans Soleil presents a fascinating double feature of two cinematic masterpieces. La Jete is an iconic science fiction short film told almost entirely through still images, following a man sent back in time to pre-apocalyptic Paris in hopes of saving humanity. This groundbreaking work served as the inspiration for Terry Gilliams Twelve Monkeys.

Sans Soleil is an avant-garde documentary, a mesmerizing meditation on memory, time, and cultural history, weaving together footage from around the world with a poetic narration. Together, these films showcase Marker’s visionary storytelling and experimental style, making this Criterion Collection release a must-have for cinephiles.
