Description

Defending Your Life is a witty and imaginative romantic fantasy comedy from writer-director Albert Brooks. After a sudden car accident on his 39th birthday, advertising executive Daniel Miller (Brooks) awakens in Judgment City, a unique afterlife where the recently deceased must prove their worth to move on to paradise. As he navigates the hearings assessing his past decisions, he unexpectedly falls in love with Julia (Meryl Streep), a woman whose seemingly perfect life may lead her to a fate beyond his reach. Thought-provoking and hilarious, this 1991 cult classic arrives in a beautifully restored Criterion Collection edition.
