Description:

Martin Scorsese’s bold and controversial re-imagining of the life of Jesus Christ explores the human side of his struggles. Willem Dafoe portrays Jesus, a man torn between his divinity and humanity, questioning his purpose while building crosses for the Romans. When Judas (Harvey Keitel) is sent to kill him, he instead follows Jesus, believing him to be the Messiah. The film’s most debated moment unfolds as Jesus envisions a life of earthly temptations while on the cross.
