Description

Acclaimed director Claire Denis presents an intensely physical and visually stunning meditation on masculinity, power, and desire in Beau Travail (1998). Set against the striking landscapes of North Africa, the film follows Sergeant-Major Galoup (Denis Lavant) as he grows increasingly jealous of a charismatic new recruit, Sentain (Grgoire Colin). Fearing that his own status within the French Foreign Legion is threatened, Galoup sets out to orchestrate Sentains downfall, leading to an inevitable confrontation. This Criterion Collection release offers a restored edition of one of Denis’ most mesmerizing and poetic works.
