Description
Different Talking, the sixth and so far most wonderful album by NYC indie-rock band Frankie Cosmos, feels like it exists across time and space, just like we all do. Its a heartfelt collection of fragments, memories, familiar places, and reinterpreted feelings that come together to form a bright, humming whole. This sturdy, worldly indie-rock album explores themes of aging and the passage of time, yet it still feels fresh and relevant. Greta Kline, Frankie Cosmos lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter, has long been recognized as one of the most talented and vital voices in contemporary indie music. On Different Talking, her lyrics soften a bither usual witty cynicism gives way to an honest acknowledgment of the beautiful, necessary fallibility of our minds and hearts.
Singing with a sweet weariness, Kline can seem bemused by her melancholia, her resigned acceptance given an appealing warmth by a band whose gentle sway lends her pop miniatures depth. – Mojo
