Goodbye Yellow Brick Road made Elton John an international superstar. His prior albums – Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player, Elton John and Honky Chateau – showcased his talents, but this double LP cemented his name in households worldwide – it went platinum 7 times in the U.S. and sold over 31 million copies! A mix of songwriting, soul, R&B, gospel, and showmanship, it contains the biggest-selling single of all time: “Candle in the Wind”. It also includes lively classics like “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” and “Bennie and the Jets”, which became the first white performance on the iconic Soul Train. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked Goodbye Yellow Brick Road No. 91 in their “Top 100 Greatest Albums Of All Time” chart. Elton’s and co-writer Bernie Taupin’s 8th studio album in 3 years, it’s considered their greatest achievement – a defining moment in rock history.
