Description
The Grand Illusion is the seventh studio album by Styx, and it holds a special place in music history! Released in 1977, it became Styx’s very first Platinum-selling album, thanks in part to the beloved singles “Come Sail Away” and “Fooling Yourself.”
Styx, the iconic American rock band hailing from Chicago, gained fame through their fantastic albums during the mid-1970s and early 1980s. They charmingly blend the accessible appeal of pop rock with the intense energy of hard-rock guitar, heartfelt ballads, and influences from international musical theater. Styx is well-loved for timeless hits like “Lady” (#6, 1973), “Come Sail Away” (#8, 1977), “Babe” (#1, 1979), “The Best of Times” (#3, 1981), “Too Much Time on My Hands” (#9, 1981), and “Mr. Roboto” (#3, 1983). Their collection of memorable songs also includes “Show Me the Way” (#3, 1990), “Don’t Let It End” (#6, 1983), “Renegade” (#16, 1979), and “Boat on the River,” which enjoyed great success across Europe and Japan. Styx has impressively achieved five consecutive albums certified multi-platinum by the RIAA and boasts an impressive sixteen top 40 singles in the US!
