Description
Shigeto presents Lineage, a compact eight-track mini-LP pressed on Black & White Color Vinyl that centers Zach Saginaw’s deeply personal, familial lineage. Rooted in jazz, hip-hop, funk and folk, the record balances reverent homage with precise, expansive compositioneach piece a refined constellation of sound.
From the windchimes and circular organ of “Lineage (Prologue)” to the shifty percussion that drives the title track, the album unfolds with focused restraint. Highlights include the lush keys of “Ann Arbor Part 3 & 4” and the drum-forward drama of “A Child’s Mind,” where Shigetos cymbal work anchors evolving jazz-hip-hop textures. On “Field Trip” live drums meet playful toybox motifs before the quiet closer “Please Stay.”
