Depeche Mode’s “Music for the Masses” is a defining album of the band’s career, released in 1987 at the height of their success. The album features hits like “Strangelove,” “Never Let Me Down Again,” and “Behind the Wheel,” and explores themes of desire, technology, and alienation. It marked a transition in the band’s sound, moving away from their earlier synthpop roots to a more guitar-driven and industrial sound.
This 180g vinyl reissue of the album captures the full range of the band’s sonic textures and layers. The vinyl’s high-quality pressing brings out the warmth and depth of the band’s instrumentation and Martin Gore’s haunting vocals. From the driving rhythms of “Nothing” to the ethereal harmonies of “The Things You Said,” the album showcases Depeche Mode’s skill at crafting dark, moody, and irresistibly catchy pop songs.
