Description
Boygenius, formed by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus, was formed after booking a tour together but their friendship and musical synergy had been brewing for longer than that. They had met through a series of tours, performances and chance encounters, and quickly formed a strong bond through their shared passion for music and songwriting. Their music is marked by raw, personal and relatable lyrics, and melodic arrangements that evoke emotion and vulnerability. Each of the three leading singer-songwriters bring their own unique style to the album, with Baker’s slow builds and taut vocals, Dacus’s devastating truth, and Bridgers’s insistent storytelling. Their unflinching self-awareness and unassailable songcraft makes them part of a new rock vanguard. The album features standout tracks such as “Souvenir,” “Stay Down,” “Bite the Hand” and “Me & My Dog” which showcase their individual strengths and the overall chemistry of the band.
