Description
Anjimile won hearts globally with the unflinching integrity of their introductory album a reflection on spiritual and freedom. 2019 saw them release Giver Taker: a selection of tunes written during sobriety in Florida. Highly praised by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of 2020’s 50 best albums, Anjimile debuted fresh material in support of artists like Tune-Yards, Jose Gonzalez and Hurray for the Riff Raff. The King, his second album, furthers the discussion of Black trans identity in America. Contrarily to the prosperous beginning of sobriety, The King captures the stark lucidity of 2020’s tumultuous summer. If Giver Taker was an album of prayers, The King is an album of curses.
