Description
Released in November 1975, ‘Horses’ is the debut album by Patti Smith, an American musician who was ahead of her time. With her raw vocals, Lenny Kaye’s simplistic guitar work, and emotionally charged lyrics, Smith’s album was a precursor to the punk rock and new wave movements. Thanks to producer John Cale’s understanding of her primitivism, ‘Horses’ boasts a unique blend of free verse and musical elements, creating a truly revolutionary spoken word experience. As Smith herself described it, this album is the perfect fusion of post-Beat poetry and rock & roll.
