Description
Richard Russell, founder of XL Recordings, showcases his artistry through the Everything Is Recorded project, proving he’s more than a visionary producer. His new album, Temporary, features a remarkable lineup of artists, including Florence Welch, Sampha, and Kamasi Washington.
The album explores the theme of loss yet remains uplifting. Russell recorded his collaborators’ reflections on loss early in the process, which influenced the overall tone of the album, which is characterized by a newfound affinity for British folk music.
By incorporating voices of artists from the past, Russell blurs the lines between sampling and original recordings, connecting themes of life, death, and timeless longing. Temporary encapsulates that while we may be transient, our desire for connection and love persists indefinitely.
