Description
From a young age, Molly Burch immersed herself in the arts. Raised in Los Angeles with a writer/producer father and a casting director mother, her childhood was rich with classic Hollywood musicals and the timeless voices of Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, and Nina Simone. In her teenage years, after discovering her vocal talent, Burch moved to UNC Asheville to pursue a degree in Jazz Vocal Performance.”I was always more focused on singing than songwriting. I lacked the confidence to write initially,” Molly reflects. “At first, it was about finding the right songs that matched my voice.” That distinctive voice immediately captivates you on Burch’s debut albumsmoky and showcasing a remarkable range that echoes her musical influences.Seeking broader opportunities, Burch relocated to Austin, Texas, where she earnestly began crafting her own music, inspired by the heart-wrenching melodies of the Everly Brothers and Sam Cooke. Driven by the urgency of a studio’s hourly rate, she recorded all initial tracks and vocals live in a single day, with only a few overdubs added later. This impressive feat becomes even more astonishing when you listen to her powerful performance on songs like “Downhearted” and “I Love You Still.”
