Thee Oh Sees – Carrion Crawler/The Dream – Magenta Color Vinyl Record *

Description

Since first emerging in the musical underground in the late ’90s, Thee Oh Sees’ John Dwyer has continually pushed creative boundaries across multiple projects. With Carrion Crawler/The Dream, the band captures the raw energy and range of their legendary live performances in ways previous records haven’t matched. The addition of Lars Finberg on second drums intensifies the sonic assaultdriving rhythms and scuzzy bass on tracks like “Contraption/Soul Desert” and “The Dream” create controlled chaos, while looser cuts like “Robber Barons” and the Kraut-influenced “Chem-Farmer” showcase the band’s versatility. From the off-the-rails bounce of “Crushed Glass” to the graveyard dirge of “Crack in Your Eye,” this album balances weird, wild experimentation with surprising cohesion. Originally conceived as two EPs, it works brilliantly as a single record that rewards both longtime fans and newcomers seeking adventurous, high-energy indie rock.
