Description
One of Hammers most enduring and successful releases, 1958s The Revenge of Frankenstein swiftly followed the box-office smash The Curse of Frankenstein. This sequel marked the beginning of Hammers most commercially lucrative period, solidifying their reputation as masters of gruesome Gothic horror.
Jimmy Sangsters ingenious script reworks the classic tale, with Dr. Frankenstein continuing his grisly experiments under a new guise in a paupers hospital. Peter Cushing, in sparkling form, relishes the role of Dr. Frankenstein, creating an enduring anti-hero that would define both Hammers and his own on-screen personas.
